I sometimes forget that Thanksgiving is a North American holiday (celebrated in October by the Canadians and in November by Americans). And even though there;s a lot of talk about the food for T-day, there is also a lot of discussion about what we’re thankful for.
Thanksgiving, to me, provides a nice pause before the Christmas holiday rush, and reminds me to be thankful for what I have and where I am.
I have (as of this year:):
- a college degree
- supportive parents
- a roof over my head and a warm place to sleep
- a job
- the freedom to pursue my dreams
- clean clothing
- electricity and heating
- a computer and gadgets to make art with
- a loving family
- a whole metric awesome ton of friends who appreciate me for who I am
- and lots more
I’m thankful for all of the above. I realize that not everyone in the world, let alone this country, can count themselves so blessed. I truly hope that every person can find something to be thankful for today.
Even if it is the fact that the Sun isn’t likely to expand into a red giant and swallow the Earth for another 5 billion or so years.
